Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. At the age of five years old, she moved to Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma had a dream to become an actor when she was just at the age of six. She studied at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy with part-time courses. At the age of 10, she had appeared and played the lead in various Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) was the film adaptation of J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was first cast for first time at the beginning of 1999. Agents for casting found Emma through her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through eight straight auditions. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's debut on the screen in cinema. The film was also the most successful film during 2001. The opening weekend and day sales were record-breaking. The film has been praised by critics for its film, as well as the performances by the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her performance. Emma's performance was recognized and later won awards for the film.
